Startled at dictionary.com

So, I was writing an email to A. the other day as part of my recent punishment and started writing the word "gotten." Then wondered if "gotten" was actually a real word. So, I looked it up.

Not only is it a real word, but they even used it in a sentence with spanking. The screen shot is below with my having circled the sentence (which, lemme tell ya, is harder to do in Paint than you might think):

So, do you mean this is your first trip to this blog?

Sorry -- just realized I sounded a bit abrupt there. My brain has a tendencey these days to work in short little bursts.

First, welcome if this is your first time to this blog. The little blurb "about me" in the left sidebar explains a bit about this blog.

Second, if you meant late getting to the topic of this post, the link within this post is to my recent post over at the Punishment Book, which might give a little bit of background.

Ha! Freakin' awesome.

Although I'm surprised they think that "to get a spanking" and "to get a prison sentence" use the same meaning of "get". It doesn't seem so obvious to me!

I know! I thought it was funny as hell considering the context under which I was looking up the word in the first place. ;)

And yeah, I mean, there are some punishments where "get" would be the wrong idiomatic phrase, I should think. Like, I got the guillotine? I got a hanging? Hmm...maybe it's with punishments where you're still around to talk about what you got...
