A. told me yesterday afternoon about this conversation at the Big Brother Halfway House and he wondered, is Jonty now the first openly spanko TV personality?

Yeah, Dave, I thought it was interesting to have someone actually talking about spanking the same way we do. I can't remember anyone referring to it as anything other than a sort of kinky appetizer before fucking.
That's an interesting take on it, anonymous, though (and I should have included this in the post) my understanding from what A. told me (I'm in the US and didn't see the episode) was that Jonty also talked about how he just met people to spank or be spanked by and didn't have sex. Unfortunately, they just had this clip of the conversation at the Channel 4 website.
Granted, if Jonty reads this, he's welcome to clarify the quote. :)
